First Day of School

This is the one, and only picture I got of the kids together on the first day of school. After I snapped this there were off and running to get in Papa's truck for the drive to Clinton. We decided to start the kids in their new school now, so they wouldn't have to make that adjustment so early in the school year. So far, they have both fit right into their new home!

Kathryn (yep, it's Kathryn now!) came home very excited that she already had 2 new friends on the first day! The one I was the most worried about is doing great! She seems to really like her new school, her teacher, and all the new friends she is making. After one week and one day, second grade has been great for her!

Jacob is doing great too! He's making lots of new friends, he just can't remember their names yet! I think he's a little overwhelmed with the long day at school, but I know he will adjust to that over time. Kindergarten is a big adjustment for all kids! But he also likes his teacher, and thinks their school is pretty cool.

The school they are attending just opened last year for the 2007-2008 school year. It is a state of the art, green, eco-friendly building with geo-thermal heating/cooling. It's really a beautiful facility. Hopefully there will be lots of pictures to share throughout the school year.

Emily and I miss them during the day, but she finds plenty of ways to occupy our time! We go for walks, visit the park, and play with every toy she owns! LOL She's also a good little helper when it is time to clean the house and do the laundry. I'm trying to savor every minute, since she'll be starting preschool after we move. It will only be a couple mornings a week, but I know I will be lost without her around!
